The rookie earned his second big-league win, and first since starting a 10-1 victory over the White Sox last Oct. 5.“I have confidence,” he said. “And it’s still the same confidence.”In three appearances since being recalled, Varland is 1-0 with a 2.84 earned-run average in 6⅓ innings.
