JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Dozens of bills are up for debate in Jefferson City, but lawmakers aren't in session. Instead, a group of seniors is inside the House and Senate chambers, passing legislation. The Missouri Silver Haired Legislature (SHL) was founded in 1973 and was the nation's first after the Older Americans Act was amended to include advocacy groups. For 50 years, the group of Missouri seniors has been debating, amending and passing legislation, which turns into priorities sent to the General Assembly."To me, this is the highlight of the year," Missouri SHL President John Kramer said. "To be able to be in the House and the Senate and make bills, pass or not pass, it's just like being a regular representative or senator."It looks a lot like an average day of session inside the Missouri Capitol. While you don't have to be a Democrat or Republican to be in this legislature, you must be at least 60 years old."We come from all over the state, but we come for the purpose of getting ...Denver DA drops one of two murder charges in I-25 road-rage killings

Denver prosecutors on Wednesday dropped one murder charge against the man accused of killing two brothers in a road rage incident on Interstate 25 earlier this year.Prosecutors did not think they could prove the first-degree murder charge against 25-year-old Stephen Long in the death of one brother, said Matt Jablow, a spokesman for Denver District Attorney Beth McCann. But prosecutors are continuing to pursue a first-degree murder case in the death of the second brother. The move comes days after 11 Denver City Council members sent McCann a letter expressing concerns about how her office handled Long’s case. In the Oct. 9 letter, the council members compared the road-rage shooting to the slaying of 12-year-old Elias Armstrong, a Black boy who was shot by a white man who claimed self-defense and was not criminally charged.“We cannot help but be struck by a seeming double standard…” the letter read. “Both claimed self-defense. Both appear to have had lega...Broncos coach Sean Payton on QB Russell Wilson’s outing vs. Chiefs: “That wasn’t all on him”

Sean Payton has ideas about how to get Russell Wilson back to playing efficient football. In fact, he said Wednesday it was a key part of the longer-than-normal break between Thursday night’s loss to Kansas City and the 1-5 Broncos’ return to work Wednesday.“Listen, we’ll get him back (on track),” Payton said. “I thought there were certain elements to the plan I didn’t like. We can correct that. That being said, and I said it after the game, I was pleased with how we ran the ball, and yet, we didn’t throw it nearly well enough. That wasn’t just on him. It starts with me relative to finding those throws for him — drive starters, for instance, and first-and-10 throws that are higher completion percentage throws.”Wilson played easily his worst game of the season and by some measures his worst as a Bronco at Arrowhead Stadium, throwing for just 95 yards and turning the ball over twice.Wilson’s been sacked eight times over the past two weeks and has turned it over three times in that stre...Sean Payton’s reaction to his play sheet ending up on the Thursday Night Football broadcast? “I don’t worry about it”
